The Baton Rouge Sit-Ins resulted in the U. S. Supreme Court Case bearing the same last name as the speaker. Joan K. Garner, daughter of Civil Rights activist, John B. Garner will provide an historical and legal context to Garner v. Louisiana. According to the Supreme Court Historical Society, this case is one of the most significant oral arguments spanning 1955-1993. Garner v. Louisiana resulted from three consolidated cases involving 16 students who participated in the Sit-In Movement in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1960.
