Breed All About Us Lunchtime Lecture and Book Signing

Wednesday, October 20, 2021

On Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Noon, the West Baton Rouge Museum is pleased to host a Lunchtime Lecture and Book Signing featuring author, Yvonne Krumins and illustrator, Katherine Klimitas of the book, Breed All About Us. This publication is a remarkable collection of watercolor paintings that offers an amusing description of 64 breeds of dogs. The book is intended to be an entertaining and somewhat personal description of each breed represented based upon research and discussions with current and past breed owners.  A book signing will follow the presentation. The book along with its author and illustrator are sure to appeal to artists and dog lovers alike!

Katherine Klimitas is a New Orleans based designer who sold her first watercolor at age 10. As the daughter of veterinarians, she expresses her family’s life-long love of animals through her meticulous paintings. Katherine earned a B.A. from Loyola University in 2011, and today runs her multifaceted business KAK Art & Designs from home. When clients learn that Katherine has Brittle Bone Disease, they are captivated by her unique perspective and love for life. Katherine is two feet and seven inches tall, gets around in an electric wheel chair, and creates all of her art, jewelry, and commercial graphic design while lying on her side.

Yvonne Krumins was born and raised in New Orleans. She is married to her soul mate, has two wonderful children, a boy and a girl, and two spoiled four-legged rescues. Yvonne has been writing her entire life in some capacity, whether it be personally, professionally, or as a volunteer; however, she has never published any of her work. Because of her love of research, she earned her J.D. from LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center in 2000, thus accomplishing her first lifelong goal. When presented with the perfect opportunity to research and write complementary text for Katherine’s beautiful artwork in Breed All About Us, Yvonne did not hesitate to tackle her second lifelong goal of becoming a published author.

This program is offered in conjunction with the current exhibit, Louisiana Birds by Katherine Klimitas and is FREE and open to the public.
